Recent technological advances and new deafness identification and diagnosis methods bring about important changes. These advances are addressed to people with hearing impairments, as well as their social, family and educational context.

In this framework, The GISTAL Research Centre (group involved in research into hearing impairments and language learning disorders) is organising the 2nd International Congress on Deafness: Communication and Learning. Advances in the Oral Modality, which will be held at the Faculty of Psychology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) on 3, 4 June 2010.

This 2nd Congress focuses on three main topics: written and oral language, development in infancy, and learning and cognition. The attendees will be mostly specialists in psychology, speech therapy, education and audiology.

The Congress will examine and analyse the contributions to good practice developed by families and professionals. It will also look at the research carried out by different centres and  university research teams.

The Congress will proceed in the form of plenary sessions, presentation of papers, workshops, presentation of posters and roundtable discussions.
